BRUTE

It’s been a little while since I sent out an update so I’ve a few things to share this week about Brute.

First though, I just want to acknowledge the passing of two of comic’s greatest talents – Neal Adams and George Perez. If you read comics in the 70’s-90’s these two need no introduction. Their gorgeous artwork graced some of the best comics of the time – with Neal Adams best known for his run on Batman, but also worked on Green Arrow, X-Men and Avengers and classics like Superman Vs Muhammed Ali. Perez become renown for his work on Avengers and New Teen Titans as well as classics like Crisis on Infinite Earths and Avengers Vs JLA. Their talents will be missed, but their legacy endures.

Back to Brute! Artwork for Brute #3 continues and is looking awesome! I can’t wait for you to see it. I apologize for the tease but Owen (artist), doesn’t want his pencil work shared, and inking will only begin once it’s completed, but it’s coming along nicely.

Having sold out of the first print of Brute #1, all three of the current issues (#0-#2) are now at the printers so I’ll have lots more copies to sell at conventions and online! I’m now booked to appear in comic con’s in Whitby and Bolton (Ontario), and planning to be at a dozen more over the summer. Hope to see some of you as I travel around the province and (tentatively) to New York.

For our American fans – I want to come see you too! However, being a small indie publisher makes the economics of travelling far (where I’ll need airfare, overnight accommodations, etc.) out of reach at this time, but I’m hoping by 2023 we’ll be able to do major US conventions too!

Lastly, I had to share this! My birthday was this month, so as you might expect my (adult) children all came to visit and we had a little low-key party, but one person I didn’t expect to show up, was this guy…

The cake was from a gourmet bakery, and was made with spiced rum chocolate cream – and if that sounds good to you – it was! Quite a delight. I also received a Nintendo Switch, so if you want to play online, send me your friend code. Shame I can’t mod Brute and Rose into Smash Bros Ultimate… One day!
